U.S. Child Entertainment Laws by State

Child Actors & Performers

THERE IS CURRENTLY MINIMAL INFORMATION UPLOADED HERE ON CHILD ENTERTAINMENT LAWS. I'VE BUILT OUT ALL THE TEMPLATES AND HAVE ALL THE DETAILED STATES INFORMATION. MY NEXT STEP WILL BE TO PARSE ALL THE DATA, STATE BY STATE, INTO THE PAGE. IF THE STATE IS BLUE IT'S BEEN COMPLETED. UPDATED 5/29/20

Minors employed as actors or performers in motion pictures or theatrical productions, or in radio or television productions are exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) under 29 CFR §570.125.

Therefore, FLSA rules regarding total allowable number of work hours in one day and allowable times of day to work do not apply.

However, many states regulate the employment of minors in the entertainment industry more strictly than does the FLSA and the more protective child labor laws and regulations will apply.
